Askin for a friend, Corel Draw x7
Ah Hem, my friend, has just installed Corel Draw suite X7 on his PC and he got it very very cheap from what he thought was a reputable Russian guy on the internet and it needed some "special" software to make his unique serial number that then made the installer give him an installation ID which made the special software make an activation code. Which then activated the trial software and made it say it was now a fully activated. Obviously my friend was pleased that he can now use Corel Draw and Photo Paint.
However, Corel wants my friend to "Log in" with an account he made with Corel and register his product so he can get updates. It seems to be impossible to update the software without it being "logged in" and online. My friend is a bit paranoid and wonders if his copy of Corel Draw x7 will stop working if he logs in or whether the Men In Black will come round to see him.
He it just a little bit suspicious that he might have installed a less than legal copy.
Should my friend log into his Corel account from Corel Draw?
Will his new software stop working?
Will the Corel Draw people decide that his copy of Corel Draw isn't shall we say, the full retail product and "take action" of some kind?
He wants to know if any of you guys have been in the same boat and if you have any advice or words of wisdom for him. He doesn't want to hear that he shouldn't have installed a hacked product and how he should have just bought a legit copy as he is a bit thick and he thought he was buying the real deal...and he didn't want to spend £370+ on Corel's over-priced yearly rental deal etc..
