API Access

    Hello, Jason,

There is no way to manage products with Opencart API key. This key is used to communicate with front-end from a back-end because the code is not common for these two locations. It might be possible to place and edit orders with that API if you get familiar with its internals but I would not use it for that purpose.

    Kind regards

    Hey Karapuz,

Thanks for your reply. Do I have to manually add products every time? I have multiple sites that I sell on and wanted a way to update from a central location.

Are there any third-party apps that you'd recommend for this, please?

    Cheers

    Hello, Jason,

Maybe there are dedicated solutions for product synchronization on the market but I did not see them. Actually, it is a quite complex workflow involving many details. But in the simplest approach, if you need just update products in one way (from the main store to additional stores), you can export these products on a main website to a csv file and import them periodically requesting this file by url.

If you need to import some data back like sales/stock remainders, it is better to find a module offering rest api client/server capabilities.

Regarding import/export, I have such modules working with csv files and an additional module for automation. Usually they are used for updating product stock from distributor files so I am not sure if they suit your cases, but it might be worth looking.

    CSV Product Export:

    https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=marketplace/extension/info&extension_id=31849

    CSV Product Import:

    https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=marketplace/extension/info&extension_id=31428

    Task Scheduler (for import/export automation):

    https://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=marketplace/extension/info&extension_id=32040

I can give you a trial license on each module, if you wish. You will be able to install the modules and see how they export/import the data.

    Kind regards

    Karapuz

    Hi Karapuz,

I'm surprised this is not an option but CSV export may be a workaround. I'll get back to you when the project gets going as I may need to try this if possible.

Really appreciate your input. I'll get back to you when we are building.

    Cheers
